About the Town of Century

Town of Century Historical Marker

The Town of Century is located in the northwestern "panhandle" of  Florida, in close proximity to regional and international airports, a deep seaport, military bases, CSX rail and Interstates 65, 10 and 110. Award-winning beaches, world class shopping, a new waterfront stadium, fine arts, minor-league baseball, hockey, national flight academy and much more are a short drive away.

Century is bordered by the Escambia River with boating, fishing and camping, and is home to 130 beautiful acres of fresh water known as Lake Stone, a fisherman’s paradise stocked with Florida bass, bluegill, shellcracker and channel catfish. In nearby Santa Rosa County is the renowned Beaches to Woodlands tour, where you can bike, hike or kayak from dazzling white beaches to the majestic Blackwater State Forest.

The town’s population—approximately 1,826 residents—enjoys a low cost of living with median real estate property taxes of around $485 annually with mortgage, and $188 annually without. The median gross rent is approximately $406 a month.

Century’s business sector tends to focus on individuals as opposed to ‘entities,’ and the town’s government takes a neighborly approach in dealings with local business owners. The town’s leadership and governing bodies work in unique ways with local businesses to keep them an active part of the community. Century’s “Health & Hope Clinic” is an extension of the Pensacola Health and Hope Clinic, supported entirely by volunteers and donors who have collectively provided $8.5 million in health care services for the medically under-served since 2003.

It’s a well-hidden, unique town, full of surprises and opportunity.
